Love Is The Main Thing

Matthew 22:37-40 37 “ ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

Deuteronomy 6:4-5 Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one. Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.

God is not demanding or hard to please – He asks one thing… that we love.

Matthew 22:37-40 37 “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

1 John 4:20-21 20 If anyone says, “I love God,” yet hates his brother, he is a liar. For anyone who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, whom he has not seen. 21 And he has given us this command: Whoever loves God must also love his brother.

Matthew 5:23-24 GNB So if you are about to offer your gift to God at the altar and there you remember that your brother has something against you, 24 leave your gift there in front of the altar, go at once and make peace with your brother, and then come back and offer your gift to God.

1 Corinthians 14:1 NLT Let love be your highest goal …

Love is not a feeling but a choice.

Luke 6: 27-28 27 I tell you who hear me: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, 28

bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you …

You can’t change how you feel toward another, but you can change how you act.

Love chooses not to allow feelings to determine how it treats another person.

Love is obedience.

Failure to love others, even our enemies, is sin.

Luke 6: 27-28 “But I tell you who hear me: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you …

Love is a matter of character.

The less worthy a person is to be loved, the more it reveals the character of the one who loves him/her.

1 Corinthians 13:4-8 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.
